“This is America” in response to ongoing cultural censorship and exclusionary immigration policy of the current administration. The “This is America” Artist Talk series invites artists to explore the sources of their creative inspiration while expanding on the complicated idea of “American art”. The series affirms that understanding what makes each of us unique is essential to understanding what makes America itself so rich, resilient, and worth protecting.

The series opens with Ransome, whose layered collage work examines the history and future of The Great Migration both from and back to the American South, illuminating African American histories of labor, movement, and spiritual continuity.
