Rhythm of Water Productions presents:
PsiFire Flo Arts Dance Collective & Baba Kazi
The public is invited to a free, celebratory performance of Afrofuturist-inspired dance and drumming in tandem with our spring exhibition, The Destiny, curated by Jaime Ransome.
Indigo Rising is a transformative performance by Psi Fire Flow, a Hudson Valley–based Black flow arts dance collective, whose mission is rooted in spreading joy, love, and inspiration, while cultivating safe, empowering spaces for Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities. Their work celebrates the resilient, regal, and radiant essence of Black culture, brought to life through the dazzle and dynamism of flow dance.
Flow arts—a form of movement using props for self-expression with roots in festival culture—has been reimagined by Psi Fire Flow as they merge hip-hop, Afrocentric rhythms, and contemporary dance. With glowing wands, fluttering fans, and rhythms echoing from our ancestors, this unique event invites you to witness and experience power, beauty, and purpose in motion. Indigo Rising is not just a show—it’s a movement!
The event will include several flow arts dance performances alongside an original DJ mix and live African drumming, a conversation between Ransome and Rhythm of Water Productions co-founder, Nick Jackson, and a participatory workshop including movement, prop work and drumming, giving attendees an opportunity to move together in community and feel the power of dance and drumming in their own bodies as a practice of freedom, joy, and empowerment.
Indigo Rising is a story about love as a tool for transformation. In a world overwhelmed by negativity, love becomes our resistance—not by tearing down what exists, but by nurturing and uplifting one another. Indigo Rising is a call to action: to rise, to create, and to unite. The term Indigo—in metaphysical traditions—refers to those with hidden, world-changing abilities. Indigo Children are believed to be a generation born to bring profound change. This performance is both an invocation and a message: it is time for the Indigo generation to rise and build community.
