Storytelling Through Mixed Media Workshop

  • Ann Street Gallery 104 Ann Street Newburgh, NY, 12550 United States (map)

Join us for a free hands-on workshop with exhibiting artist Destiny Arianna to explore storytelling through mixed media collage. Using materials like magazines, newspapers, recycled paper, natural materials, and markers, we’ll reflect on how art can help us reshape our identities, tell our stories, and reclaim our narratives. All materials will be provided.

How can cutting, layering, and rearranging your story reveal a new perspective?

In this workshop, we’ll explore themes of:

Place & Identity – How do the places you come from or feel connected to shape who you are?

Memory & Perspective – What is a memory tied to a specific place that has shaped you, and how might someone outside of that place see it differently? What overlooked truths or misconceptions can be revealed?

Power & Representation – Who controls the narratives about your community or identity, and what voices are missing?

Participants will leave with a mixed media collage that reflects their exploration of identity, memory, and place and a deeper understanding of how collage can be used to express and reshape personal and cultural narratives.

Workshop limited to 12 participants.
Age 15 and up.
